Everything about making your home eco-friendly!
If you haven’t been thinking about reducing your carbon footprint yet, you should be. We all need to do something to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide being released into our atmosphere. It is no longer enough to think that someone else will worry about this for you. We all have to take responsibility.
One of the easiest ways we could all make an impact on the carbon dioxide levels is to reduce our reliance on burning fossil fuels. If you are heating your home in winter and using air conditioning in the summer you are probably burning a considerable amount of fuel not to mention the dollars all of this energy costs you. What if you found out that you can reduce both your bills and your adverse impact on our world?
The answer is insulation. Insulating your home reduces the transfer of heat from a warm area to a cold one. If the walls and floors of your home are properly insulated, the heat will not escape in the same quantity as it is currently doing so. All materials conduct heat to a greater or lesser level. If you have ever sat beside a window in winter you will know that glass is a very poor insulator, bricks are slightly better and wood is better still. But you don’t want to insulate your home using wood as that would have a high cost but financially but also the impact on the world’s forests.
Cork board on the other hand is a completely natural product and is produced without damaging any trees or forests. It is a wonderful insulating agent and can be used on walls and floors alike. It cannot be used on ground floors unless a damp membrane already exists as cork is too absorbent for water. Why not investigate how cork board wall and floor coverings could reduce your energy consumption and bills this winter?
